Performance Serums
A face serum or performance serum is a concentrated treatment product designed to deliver active ingredients deeply into the skin. Some of the key attributes of performance serums are:
- High Concentration of Actives: Performance serums often contain a higher percentage of potent active ingredients than other skincare products like creams or lotions. These actives can include vitamins (e.g., Vitamin C, Vitamin E), peptides, retinol, niacinamide, salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and exfoliating acids (e.g., AHAs, BHAs).
- Texture: Performance serums have a lightweight and fast-absorbing formula that allows them to penetrate deeply into the skin.
- Targeted Treatment: A face serum addresses specific skin concerns, such as anti-aging, boosting hydration, reducing pigmentation, brightening, acne treatment, or exfoliation.
- Application: Performance serums are ideal for layering under other skincare products. You can add them to your AM/PM routine. During the day, following up with a moisturizer and SPF is advisable, as some active ingredients can make the skin sensitive to sunlight.
