FAQs
1. What is the difference between mineral and chemical sunscreen?
Mineral (physical) sunscreens use active ingredients like Zinc Oxide to sit on top of the skin and physically reflect UV rays away, much like a mirror. Chemical sunscreens absorb into the skin and convert UV rays into heat. Mineral formulas are often preferred for sensitive skin because they don't penetrate the skin barrier.
2. Does this mineral sunscreen leave a white cast?
No. Our SPF 50 PA++++ fluid is engineered with ultra-fine Zinc Oxide particles. This allows the minerals to blend seamlessly across all skin tones without the "chalky" residue aka zero white cast.
3. Is mineral sunscreen safe for sensitive and acne-prone skin?
Yes. Mineral sunscreens are generally non-comedogenic (won't clog pores) and are less likely to cause irritation or stinging than chemical filters.
4. Can I wear mineral sunscreen under makeup?
Yes. It should be applied as the final step of your skincare routine, after your moisturizer but before your foundation or concealer.
5. Why is Zinc Oxide recommended for pregnancy and children?
Zinc Oxide is a natural mineral that is not absorbed into the bloodstream. Because it stays on the skin's surface, it is widely considered the safest UV filter for pregnant women, infants (6+ months), and those with highly reactive skin.
6. How often do I need to reapply?
For consistent protection, you should reapply every 2-3 hours if going outside. Once is enough for an indoor day. Unlike chemical filters that break down over time, mineral filters remain photostable, but they can be rubbed or sweated off throughout the day.
7. Does this protect against both tanning and aging?
Yes. The SPF 50 rating protects against UVB rays (burning/tanning), while the PA++++ rating specifically measures protection against UVA rays, which are the primary cause of skin aging and long-term cell damage.
8. Do I need to wait before going out in the sun?
Yes, since mineral sunscreens work immediately so there is no 15-minute wait time. This makes them the best choice for people with busy lifestyles who need protection on the go.
